Ikegamihonmonji

The city name IKEGAMI was named after ikegami who owns the land.
Somewhat 700 years ago Budhism leader Nichiren spent his last 20 days in Ikegami.But after Nichiren died he gave the land to his disciple,named Nichirou in which he founded this buddism temple.

Festival
october 11-13 the death of one budhist leader (NICHIREN) and so since year 720 they celebrate a traditional buddism festival which is located in Ikegami Honmonji whom often visited by 300th visitors each yr. 100 mando (lamp) with cherry blossoms accent parades around ikegami sta. until ikegami honmonji.

Tokyu Ikegami line Ikegami sta. 10min walk.


Statue of Nichiren
800 years ago,during Kamakura`s time nichiren was a buddism priest who also founded a denomination of buddist called Nichirensyu.


Bell
This bell during 1647 (Edo time) Tokugawa Yorinobu contributed. And during the war in 1945 this bell was destroyed but then 1958 new bell was made which was placed beside the 1st one.



Stairs way to main temle
96 steps goin up to main temple whuch has a very nice view.
